Perfect Boiled Eggs

A boiled egg has to be one of the easiest and quickest meals you can make. Use these simple steps to get a perfectly cooked egg every time. Using the timer on your stove takes away the guess work, I like my eggs soft boiled – 6-7 minutes. Set the timer and yours will come out just the way you like them.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs per person
  • Lightly buttered bread or toast for dipping

    Method

    Fill a saucepan with hot water, place on the element and heat until boiling.

    Reduce the heat to a simmer, and using a spoon,  gently lower the eggs into the simmering water.

    Set the timer and cook until they’re just the way you like them –

         4-5 minutes for runny eggs

         6-7 minutes for soft eggs

         8-9 minutes for hard boiled eggs

    Tips

    To avoid the shells cracking use room temperature eggs, rather than cold ones from the fridge.
